Raised within one of Korea’s significant classical music traditions, Lee inherited a rich artistic foundation that cultivated in her an early sensitivity to musical expression, depth of tone, and interpretive elegance. Her artistic journey led her from Korea to the United States, where she continued her studies at the prestigious New England Conservatory, earned her Master of Music degree from the Yale University School of Music, and pursued doctoral studies at Boston University, establishing herself as an artist of both intellectual depth and expressive distinction.

As a concert cellist and chamber musician, Lee has built an international career defined by artistic sincerity, tonal beauty, and emotionally resonant performances. Alongside her work on stage, she has contributed extensively as a recording artist and principal cellist in film, television, chamber music, and orchestral productions, expanding the role of the cello into broader artistic landscapes. A defining turning point in Lee’s artistic voice has been her profound connection to the sea. Deeply moved by the beauty, fragility, and silent suffering of the ocean, she began shaping her musical work around themes of nature, ecological awareness, and humanity’s spiritual relationship with the living world. This vision came to life in her album On the Sea Cliff, a deeply contemplative and emotionally expansive work in which the cello becomes the voice of wind, tide, memory, longing, and awakening.

For this artistic achievement, Lee was awarded the Platinum Prize at the World Grand Prix International Music Contest in the CD Album Category for On the Sea Cliff. Her visual music work, Breezing Cello DYING Ocean, which powerfully combines cello performance with an urgent environmental message for the ocean, also received the Platinum Prize in the Music Video Category, bringing her international recognition as a visionary artist whose work unites classical excellence with meaningful artistic purpose.

Today, Lee continues her work as a concert artist, chamber soloist, orchestral musician, and recording artist, creating performances and artistic projects that transcend conventional boundaries of classical music.
